“Forget the Past” – Amorim encourages support for Manchester United owner Onana

Ruben Amorim has told Andre Onana to “forget the past” and has asked for support as Manchester United have recently made mistakes behind him.

Onana has had mixed possessions since it was introduced as a replacement by David de Gea in 2023 by Inter Milan.

The 28 -year -old has occasionally shown glittering flashes that appear in the final defeat of the 2023 Champions League at Manchester, which helped United to spend £ 47m for his services.

But his time at Red Devils has also been distorted by a series of elementary errors, the latest of which come during the United 3-2 victory over Ipswich in the middle week, when mixing with Patrick Dorgu allowed Jaden Philogene to score.

The question marks remain above the quality and consistency of the United Number, but its manager has come to defense seeking support for Shotstopper.

“There were some difficult times,” Amorim said. “But this season (onana) made some great savings that save our team.

“I think if you look through our team, you can find a lot of players with this issue, so I think we’re not doing as well as a team and sometimes some players have problems.

“We just have to support Andre, as we support all players and prepare the next game. Forget the past and prepare the future.”

Onana will have another chance to silence critics when United Host Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday, with goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and the third option Tom Heaton were still injured.

The Red Devils are the holders of the competition after Manchester City’s 2-1 win in the final of last year at Wembley.
