Forest Victory in penalties to reach the fa -cup quarters

Nottingham Forest threw a tense penalty to see the Ipswich city challenge and book a square journey of the fa cup to get Brighton.

After nine perfect sanctions, Jack Taylor’s Ipswich’s effort was easily saved by Matz Sels to launch passionate festivities by Forest Bench and stands.

After a Drab first 45 minutes, George Hirst scored his third goal of the season to put Ipswich forward, heading to Unmarked in the Far Post from a corner.

Master Ryan Yates soon balanced, meeting an Anthony Elanga cross back in the middle with a smart header.

Yates hit his back net with another header, but it was offside before Callum Hudson-Ooi hit the bar.

Both sides supported their main strikers with Chris Wood and Liam Delap, as they both came and scored in a shootout full of brilliant penalties until Taylor was reinforced.

Forest has won all four of their penalties in the FA Cup – with only MacClesfield Town and Stevenage having a better record.

Ipswich was the last in the quarter -finals, in 1993 and the wait continues, while the Forest’s thin season continues on two fronts.
