Flavor Flav claims NBC security kicked him out of the Backstreet Boys’ dressing room at the annual Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center.
In an X post that has since been deleted, the hip-hop icon, 65, wrote on Wednesday, Dec. 4, “Feeling weird … I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonite and was accompanied to see my boys … THE BACKSTREET BOYS … and we were behind backstage in their dressing room … security came up to me and said @nbc doesn’t want me in that area and I have to leave.”
“At the same time … their social media woman came in and asked me to shoot social content. What have I done to NBC or anybody??” he continued. “All I do is try to spread joy and love … and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics.”
After deleting the post, Flav later shared via X“I deleted the tweet … but my spirit is broken.”
In a follow-up tweet, the Scent of love star shared a short video of herself enjoying the tree lighting on Wednesday and wrote“Christmas in the City … is nothing like the Rockefeller Tree Lighting. 🫶🏾”
Us Weekly NBC has been contacted for comment.
The Backstreet Boys joined the hosts Kelly Clarkson for Wednesday’s tree lighting, which aired live on NBC. They performed Nat King Coles “The Christmas Carol (Merry Christmas to You).” Other musical guests are included Ray, Jennifer Hudson and Little Big Town.
Flav, meanwhile, recently revealed that he did not know that the actress and singer Selena Gomez is best friends with his favorite pop star, Taylor Swift.
In November, Flav uploaded a GIF of Gomez talking to Swift via X. In the video, Swift appears shocked by what Gomez is saying. “Just found out taylor and selena are best friends,” he captioned the clip.

The self-proclaimed “King Swiftie” said us in September that he hopes Swift marries a friend Travis Kelce and even wants to officiate their wedding.
“I think they will be together for a while. I hope (yes) and if they get married, I want to be the preacher,” Flav said. “I want to be the one to marry them.”
Flav has been vocal about his support for Swift, 34, for years, recounting us that the singer seems to be in a “really good place in her life” right now — especially with Kelce by her side.
