South Africa National Cricket Team batsman Faf du Plessis defines the phrase “age is just a number”. The right-hander produced a sensational effort on the field during Qualifier 2 of the Abu Dhabi T10 match between Morrisville Samp Army and Delhi Bulls.
Playing for the Morrisville Samp Army, Faf du Plessis found the stunner to put his team on top of the game and sent Delhi Bulls’ Shadab Khan to work a two-ball duck off the bowling of Afghanistan national Amir Hamza.
Shadab Khan, who came to beat at No. 3, was at the end of Faf du Plessis’s brilliance. On the second ball he faced, he tried to play the high shot over the covers and it looked like the ball was going to go past the fielder into the covers. But the former Proteas skipper came up with an impressive one.
Du Plessis was running back to stop the ball and saw that he could catch the ball. He leapt and grabbed the ball with one hand, reflecting his agility and athleticism at age 40.

Du Plessis’ effort proved valiant for his team as Shadab Khan could have proved vital for his side. The Morrisville Samp Army bowlers were also right on the money as they took decent lines and lengths and continued to take wickets at regular intervals.
Isuru Udana was the pick of the bowlers for the Morrisville Samp Army. He bowled two overs and returned with figures of 17/3. Apart from him, Amir Hamza also had a decent outing with the ball, picking up two wickets and giving away 22 runs.
Delhi Bulls did not have a good outing with the bat. Tim David was the pick of the batsmen as he played in 24 runs off 14 balls. Nikhil Chaudhary also played a valuable 16-run hand as he posted a total of 89 runs on the board.

Du Plessis did not have a great outing with the bat as he would have liked. The batsman went for 1 run off 3 balls. But thankfully, his early wicket did not cost the team as he produced a terrific effort with the bat and won the game.
