Five former defense secretaries On Thursday, a destructive letter issued in which President Donald Trump was attacked for the dismissal of the chairman of the joint staff chefs and other senior officers.
In an open letter published on Thursday, former Defense Minister James Mattis, Leon Panetta, Lloyd Austin, Chuck Hagel and William Perry insisted on the congress To keep immediate hearings about Trump’s recent fired from joint Chiefs Chairman CQ Brown and various other senior military leaders.

The former Minister of Defense called on the congress to keep hearings to “assess the implications of national security” of Trump’s resignation. Republicans have a majority in both rooms.

The letter warned that the actions in the Pentagon Americans could prevent from choosing a life in the army if their career were assessed by the lens of partisan politics. It can also have a horrifying effect on speaking ‘truth to power’, they warned.

“We write to encourage the American congress to keep Mr Trump to explain these reckless actions and to fully practice the responsibilities of constitutional supervision,” they wrote.
