“Does she need a roommate?” musician Orville Peck comments an Instagram post which showed several photos of Mangione before the Dec. 4 shooting, including a shirtless photo that showed his stomach.
Stephen Colbert addressed the internet’s fascination with Mangione during the Dec. 9 episode The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“This story started tragically, but then very quickly (became) strange because when authorities initially released security photos of the suspect, the reaction on the Internet was swift and heated,” Colbert said.

“GOD GUYS I LITERALLY KICKED THE KILLER OF THE CEO OF UNITED HEALTHCARE,” Calloway wrote via X the same day Mangione was taken into police custody.
She added in a follow-up tweet: “Ok, technically he wasn’t a killer when we got away. … That I know of. But still!!!!”
