Noah Wyle returns after 15 years Well starring on HBO Pete.

The medical drama, which aired from 1994 to 2009, followed the inner life of an emergency room in a fictionalized version of Chicago’s real-life Cook County Hospital. Wile stars alongside Dr. John Carter George Clooney, Julianna Margilles, Anthony Edwards, Eric La Salle and Sherry Stringfield (and later John Stamos, Mekhi Pfeiffer and Linda Cardelliniby the way).

“There was a period of time where I was so into medicine that I really felt like I had a pretty good education on par with a third-year medical student,” Weil shared in the June 2024 episode. on Still Here Hollywood” podcast. “After all the things we’ve done over the years. But most of them left me, unfortunately.”

Weil recalled picking up some skills while playing a Hollywood doctor, adding: “Most of the time you learn enough to know how little you know and how much you can go wrong and how you can really make a huge mistake.” … There are several times that I have been the first on (the) scene of a car accident twice. I knew enough to be helpful and supportive – I didn’t do anything to cause harm.’

More than a decade after ER ended, Wile is back as star and executive producer from a new HBO medical series.

“We are grateful to Warner Bros. Television and Max for giving us this opportunity to return to the world of urban medicine. The myriad challenges facing the doctors, nurses, technicians, patients and their families who work in the trenches of modern medicine have become even more pronounced in the decade and a half since we last visited their stories,” Weil said in a statement with showrunners R. Scott Gemmill and John Wells. “We are thrilled to be able to return to this world with the support of our partners and look forward to pushing the boundaries of dramatic realism and medical accuracy in following the lives of these heroic men and women.”

In a sneak peek in December 2024. viewers saw Wile Robbie’s character meeting with medical students and interns which start in the hospital. Pete highlighted the highs — and lows — of the job while making the 15 episodes show 15 hours in one shift.
