Elon Musk’s mother applauds Democrats’ apparent warm-up to DOGE idea: Waste is ‘out of control’

Some Democrats appear to be warming to the idea of DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency)with some reportedly putting forward their own ideas for cutting costs and government regulations to ensure their voices are included in the mix.

Maye Musk, whose son, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, will lead the new agency along with Vivek Ramaswamy, believes it is a positive step towards ushering in much-needed change.

“It’s gotten out of hand and the more it’s revealed, it’s just horrifying,” she said of waste and spending, while sitting on the round couch with Rachel Campos-Duffy, host of Fox & Friends Weekend, on Sunday.

Musk, a former Democrat himself, applauded the apparent interest from party members in potentially jumping on board.

Florida Democratic Rep. Jared Muskowitz is one such party member who has already taken the plunge and become the first Democrat to join the new Republican Party-led congressional group that would work with DOGE to address exorbitant concerns about the tackle expenses.

That’s what he suggested more Democrats will follow this example.

“(Doing this) gives you a voice to fight for the things that bipartisanship agrees on, and to fight against the irrational things that are likely to be proposed,” he told Axios. The newspaper also spoke to other Democrats who had suggestions to make the government function more efficiently.

Musk added to her comments on Sunday about the extent of government waste, saying she “can’t believe” how much waste and spending has occurred.

“I’m glad that some Democrats are also really concerned about the waste and the spending,” she said.

It is said that DOGE operate temporarilywhich will be lifted once the objectives of reducing bureaucracy, eliminating waste and streamlining government functions have been achieved, in particular with a target end date of 4 July 2026.

Musk also chatted with Campos-Duffy about raising children, what her son Elon was like as a child and the contents of her new book “A Woman Makes a Plan.”

About Elon, she said his goal was never to become a billionaire, but to “save the planet” and “explore another planet” so that “civilization can be saved.”
