A student from the University of Pittsburgh has mysteriously disappeared during a spring break in the Dominican Republic and there are currently searches underway.
Sudiksha Konanki, 20, from North Virginia, was missing for the first time in Punta Cana on Thursday, according to the Sheriff’s Office of Loudoun County. Punta Cana is located in the east of the Caribbean Island Nation And is a popular tourist hotspot.
Konanki was last seen around 4:50 am on a beach in the five -star RIU Republica Resort and has not been heard since then, according to a flyer that is spread online. Local news items say that she was walking on a beach at that time.

Konanki was part of a group of six female university students from Pittsburgh who traveled to the area, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office of Loudoun County told Fox News Digital. Konanki is a citizen of India and the Sheriff office could not say whether she is also an American citizen.
She is described as 5 feet, 3 centimeters long, with black hair and brown eyes, according to the flyer.
The flyer says she was last seen with a brown, two -part bikini, large round earrings, a metal designer single link on her right leg, yellow and steel bracelets on her right hand and a multi -colored bead bracelet on her left hand.

Defensa Civil Dominicana, a search and rescue power from the Dominican Republic, said on Saturday that it had completed a full day search with operations planned to resume on Sunday.
“The Orange Search and Rescue unit, together with other institutions, worked from early Saturday hours and tried to find the residence of the young woman, Sudiksha Konanki, without success,” the desk wrote in a post on Instagram.
