Devin Haney’s Cryptic Message: Gone in 2025? Who is he talking about?

Devin Haney posted a cryptic message on social media tonight, saying he expects to be let go in 2025.

He’s not saying who would be knocking him out, but he could be talking about Ryan Garcia because his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, said a fight with Devin wouldn’t happen in his first fight after his year-long suspension expired in April.

Devin and his dad, Bill Haney, want the rematch with Kingry to avenge their loss from last April. It’s also one of the highest-paid fights for Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) in 2025. However, if he loses the rematch with Garcia, his career is over. He would regret fighting this fight for the rest of his life.

Dev needs to beat Garcia to show fans that his 12-round majority loss to Garcia on April 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn was just an off night. Haney was floored three times in this fight and three more times the referee didn’t count.

Andrade criticizes Haney

“At first, I thought Devin Haney for a long time because I thought he was going to develop into a Sugar Ray Leonard type of guy, but he hasn’t been recently,” Demetrius Andrade said. MillCity Boxing who originally thought Devin Haney would be the guy to beat Gervonta Davis.

“I don’t know if (Haney) got too complacent or not. It is still small because they make good money and then stop working. I’m not saying he doesn’t work hard. I thought he would be the guy to beat Tank in the future. Beat a lot of them guys, honestly.

“I think he’s got the skills to beat everybody, but that Ryan Garcia thing. Regardless of that little substance he got, he showed no ability to dominate Ryan, and Ryan looked like s*** at times. He was tired,” Andrade said.

If Andrade seriously believed Haney would develop into the next Sugar Ray Leonard, it means he wasn’t around when he was fighting. Haney doesn’t wrestle anything like Leonard did. Even an earlier version of Sugar Ray in 1997 was levels above Devin’s talent.

“There were a lot of rounds in this fight where Devin should have pushed and pushed, and he didn’t,” Andrade said. “He just let it go and threw them jabs at Caleb Plant. He didn’t do anything, and Ryan just boop-boop. It was tough,” Andrade said of Haney’s loss to Garcia.

Haney was trying to counter Ryan’s left hook by overtightening, but he kept getting pinned while looking to grab him. He had escaped the fight this way in his two bouts against George Kambosos Jr. and in his conflict with Vasily Lomachenkp. This tactic did not work against Garcia.
