Devin Haney has open practice today in London

Devin Haney will train in front of his British fans today at an open practice at 2pm in London, England. He has no match scheduled.

Haney in London: Seeking UK reinforcement

It’s a strange move from Dev because he’s not fighting a Brit. he is coming off an embarrassing loss and his stock is low. He seems desperate to make this move, but it shows where he is at career-wise.

It will look bad for Haney if few fans and members of the media show up to watch him work out. However, there will likely be enough British media to turn up to be able to get an interview.

Some believe this move is to build Haney’s brand overseas in the hope that he will be selected by Turki Al-Shiekh to compete on one of Riyadh’s season cards. Working in London, former two-division world champion Devin will gain exposure from the British press and potentially be noticed by Turki.

If he wants to add Devin to one of his cards, he could match him up against a formidable opponent like Richardson Hitchins, Liam Parro, or Jaron Ennis. It’s doubtful that Haney would agree to fight any of these guys because he wouldn’t want to jeopardize his rematch with Ryan Garcia.

Haney’s A-List status was lost

In the US, Haney’s stock has plummeted due to a combination of his loss to Ryan Garcia and his decision to file a lawsuit and stay out of the ring for a year without fighting. The way his career looks now, it doesn’t look good for him.

He is no longer one of the A-list fighters because of this loss, and his chances of returning to his former high-profile position are slim to none. There isn’t a weak champion like the ones Haney beat to win his two division world titles.
