Florida Gov. Ron DesantisA Republican, on Friday that the state returned more than $ 878 million to the federal government that it had tried to return during the Biden administration in recent years.
The Office of Desantis announced the US Department of Finance that $ 878,112,000 would be returned to the federal government.
The governor said the move came after a meeting with billionaire Elon Musk And his team of the newly formed Ministry of Efficiency of the Government or Doge.
“For years, Florida is trying to return federal funds to the federal government because of the ideological strings connected by the Biden administration – but they could not even find out how to accept it,” Desantis wrote on X on Friday.

“Today I met @elonmusk and the Doge team and we did this on the same day,” he continued.
Desantis suggested that other states should “follow Florida in supporting Doge’s efforts!”
The Governor’s office told the Ministry of Finance in his e -mail that it will look for extra surplus federal funds that can be returned.
“In the direction of Governor Desantis and after his meeting with Elon Musk today, the state Formally $ 878.112,000 in taxpayers dollars returns to the federal government as part of Doge’s efforts,” said the e -mail. “We will also continue to identify other unused or surplus federal financing to Florida and determine whether further repayments can be made. We hope that our actions will serve as a model for other states to follow.”

Musk, who also serves as a senior adviser to President Donald Trump, responded to the Governor’s post to X.
“Almost a billion dollars saved money from your taxpayer,” Musk said on the social media platform.

“Florida has set the standard for tax conservative board, and our new Task Force in Florida Doge will do even more to serve the people of Florida,” Desantis said at the time. “It will eliminate redundant boards and committees, assess the operations and expenditure of state university and university treatment, use artificial intelligence to further investigate government agencies to discover hidden waste and even control the spending points of local entities to shine the light on waste and bloat.”
