Denzel Washington struggles with his speech after a horrible injury.
During a Saturday performance on the New York Times’ “The Interview” PodcastThe 70-year-old actor revealed that he was recovering after he had seriously damaged a crucial body organ.
“A few months ago I bite almost half of half,” said Washington.

“It influences my speech,” he continued. “It forces me to slow down. I have to use it.”
Washington explained that his health problem led to complications while preparing for his titular role in the upcoming Broadway revival by William Shakespeare’s iconic game “Othello”, which also plays Jake Gyllenhaal.
“I have a line:” Where do you want me to answer this, your load? ” It’s hard because my tongue is swollen, “said the Academy Award winner. “It has influenced everything.”
Washington did not give any details about how he injured his tongue or what medical help he received to treat the wound.
The “Gladiator: 2” star, however, shared that he leaned on his faith to overcome his challenges in the aftermath of the incident.
“That’s why you pray every day,” he explained. “I am something like:” Ok, Lord, I’m here, I think this is what you wanted me to do. ” Now I don’t know why, but one can say coincidence and serendipity and all those things. “

On December 21 Washington, the son of a preacher, was baptized By Bishop James Pullings Jr. In the Kelly temple in New York City. During his appearance on the podcast, the actor shared that he is following courses to obtain the permit from his minister.

While he thinks about whether his work as an actor helps people, Washington explained that he is only looking for validation from a higher power.
“It has influenced everything.”
“At the moment, all I do through the lens of what God thinks is not what they think,” he said. “I don’t know what they think,” he said.
“You go into that hole, you will never come out,” Washington added. “When people say,” What do you want people to get out of this movie? ” Or “What do you want them to get from this piece?” I always say, “It depends on what they bring about it.” There are some interesting themes (in ‘Othello’) of jealousy and envy and pain and death.
“And Kenny (Leon), the brilliant director, he places it in what he calls the near future. So all those things – jealousy, envy – it gets a whole new thing with the information age.”

Washington also expressed his conviction that Gyllenhaal would be “brilliant” in the role of Othello’s Nemesis Iago.
“He’s crazy. I love him, “the Tony Award winner said about gyllenhaal. “He is complicated. But he already has a grip on it.”

“I’m not worried about that, because I don’t like to learn the lines too quickly,” he added. “I told a young actor who asked,” Why don’t you like to learn them too quickly? ” I said, “Because I am the voice I am listening to to deliver the instructions to myself.”
