“I am frustrated by the way we use identity to break ourselves,” said Faiz Shakir of former Bernie Sanders campaign adviser. “Listen, I worked at the ACLU. I support diversity, fairness and the rest,” he said. “But we compete for the wrong thing if we have to come together to fight together.”
“I think the democratic brand hurts because people feel that, with conviction and integrity, you can’t tell me what you feel frankly about some difficult problems,” he said.
