CNN anchor Brianna Keilar questioned Rep. Dan Goldman, DY, over his past statements claiming President Biden would never pardon his son Hunter.
Biden granted a far-reaching pardon for Hunter on Sunday, after repeatedly promising not to. The first son was convicted in two separate federal cases earlier this year. The the president argued in a statement that Hunter “was only picked because he’s my son” and that there was an attempt “to break Hunter” to “break me.”
Keilar interviewed Goldman on Monday and recalled: “You came out to support Biden when he said there would be no pardon in July 2023, right after that plea deal fell through.”

Rep. Dan Goldman was questioned over his past claim that President Joe Biden would not pardon his son Hunter Biden.
The news presenter then played a recording of Goldman arguing in 2023. Biden would never pardon his son.
“I don’t think there’s any chance that President Biden is going to do that, unlike his predecessor, who pardoned all his friends and everyone who had any access to him. And I think you see that in this case where he kept going and Merrick Garland kept bringing in a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney to investigate the president’s son. If there is no further indication of the independence of the Department of Justice, I don’t know what to look for,” the congressman said. the time.
“How does that feel?” Keilar asked Goldman. “You saw yourself then reassuring people that Biden would not pardon his son.”
“Yes, and I think if that plea deal and that plea deal had gone through, there wouldn’t have been a pardon, that was a satisfactory outcome…” Goldman began.

“Well, as I said, I’m disappointed that after the plea deal fell through, and it became clear why that was, including intervention by the Republican Congress in this case, which made this case very unique and very different from any other case ,” he argued.
He further argued that Hunter was specifically targeted because he is the president’s son, and that he may be at risk of “retaliatory prosecution for political reasons” under Trump’s new Justice Department.
