De la Fuente signs a contract extension and will remain a Spanish coach by 2028

Luis de la Fuente was rewarded for Spain’s guidance on the success of Euro 2024 with a two -year contract.

The previous 63 -year -old’s agreement was due to end after the 2026 World Cup, but is now linked to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) by the end of Euro 2028.

De la Fuente did a remarkable job with a few fanfares after succeeding Luis Enrique in the role after Spain’s departure from the 16th phase of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Having worked for RFEF in a variety of youth group roles for nine years, De La Fuente went on top and achieved almost immediate success, choosing a more balanced team approach and relaxing some big names.

He also gave great faith to the youth with the extremist Lamin Yamal and Nikos Williams being key to their success in Germany last summer.

Spain’s subsequent matches come in March when it faces the Netherlands in the quarter -finals of the Nations League with two games.
