Darwin Nuzo under fire as Splot criticizes Liverpool Striker’s work rate

Liverpool’s boss Arne Slot questioned Darwin Nunez’s work rate and says that “he can’t accept it if a player doesn’t give everything”.

Splot talked about his frustration with Nunez’s Downbeat Breanor after the late Miss of Uruguay in Aston Villa last week, but now admitted that he was also unhappy with his effort in the previous match against Wolves.

Nunez was a substitute for the second semester in both games and is likely to be among the substitutes again tonight when Liverpool guest Newcastle at Anfield.

“I helped him by saying that you can miss a chance,” Slot said, explaining his observations after playing at the villa.

“I wasn’t only hard for him. But for the second time in a row I was not happy with his work effort against the wolves and the villa.

“I can’t accept it if a player doesn’t give everything. That’s clear. I can accept it once but twice it was a little too much. That’s why I did it.

“If you miss an opportunity, you have to fight for the team. I’m not saying he didn’t do it at all, but he wasn’t the usual Darwin, the one who loves the fans. This is mainly because he always works so hard.”

Slot said, however, that Nunez was “incredible” in training on Monday as he tries to regain credit with the manager.
