Darren Bendt excited to see Marcus Rashford linked with West Ham

Graham Potter’s arrival at West Ham United has given the club and fans hope for a bright future.

Under former manager Julen Lopetegui, they struggled to progress and failed to find any consistency.

West Ham United’s decision to part ways with Lopetegui comes as no surprise and was one that came in light of their results and performances following a big-spending summer transfer window.

The Hammers were now linked with a move for Man United striker Marcus Rashford and football pundit Darren Bendt is delighted with the transfer rumour.

The England striker faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after being sacked by manager Ruben Amorim.

A number of top European clubs are chasing the Man United star and West Ham have now entered the race to bring him to the London Stadium.

Bent expressed his excitement at the prospect of Rashford playing for the Hammers.

He said live talkSPORT (January 9, 4:51pm):

“I understand (a deal is unlikely) but there is something exciting about Rashford on the left and (Jarod) Bowen on the right.”

The Hammers would struggle to match his massive wages and while the move would make sense on paper, financially it would be disastrous for the club.

The Man United star is reportedly earning £300,000-a-week at Old Trafford and the Hammers will have to break their structure to match that.

There is also a general feeling at West Ham that the 27-year-old would prefer a move to a top European club to continue his football at the highest level.

The attacker is looking forward to a move to Serie Awhere teams such as Milan and Juventus have shown interest in acquiring him.
