According to Craig, Weiss, 54, had a very good reason to pull out of the event on Sunday, January 5, sharing details of her no-show with Extra on the red carpet.
To a question from Extrais Adam Glassman whether or not Weiss was “with you tonight,” Craig, 56, replied: “She’s not, no, she’s going to get our little one back to school.” Craig and Weiss, who married in 2011, share daughter Grace, age 6.
Craig, who was nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture category, but lost to Adrien Brody for his work in The Brutalistand Weisz are notoriously private when it comes to family life. (Craig is also father to daughter Ella, 32, who he shares with his ex-wife Fiona Lowdenand stepfather to Weiss’ son, Henry, whom she shares with her ex Darren Aronofsky.)
In a rare comment in April 2023. Weiss shed light into the couple’s domestic life, telling Stephen Colbert during the April 20 episode The Late Show with Stephen Colbertthat “Daniel and daughter watched us Star Wars.”
The Permanent gardener star added, “It was like a father-daughter, kind of bonding experience, and they started with the originals.” Weiss then revealed that the youngster was “obsessed” and started asking his mom to Google things like “What does Darth Vader look like under your mask?’
“She wants to know everything,” Weiss explained. “She’s obsessed with mythology and these characters are so real to her.”
Weiss added that her daughter also watched Craig’s brief cameo in 2015. The Force Awakens which featured Craig portraying a stormtrooper whom Daisy RidleyRey on a Jedi performs a mind trick.
As for Craig, the actor shared his own insight in November 2024, recounting New York Times he chooses acting projects that allow him to be at home as much as possible. “I’ve got a six-year-old at home,” Craig said on the way out. “And I don’t want to be away from home as much as I have been in the past.”
Craig’s candid comments coincided with the publication of his interview with The Hollywood ReporterThe Awards Chatter podcast recorded in mid-November 2024, which delves into Craig’s thoughts on his sophomore year James Bond movie The Quantum of Solace.
While he was proud of the film’s “amazing stunt sequences”, Craig said he thought the film “didn’t quite work” overall. “The storytelling was gone,” he said at the time. “And that’s the unfortunate lesson: starting a movie without a script is just not a good idea.”
