“The scope of her spirit and kindness knows no bounds. I was overwhelmed to hear and read all your memories, reflections, impressions and experiences about her,” Ryan, 53, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 “What really rings so deep and profound is the consistency of her leading with her heart in all areas of her life over decades of life.”
She added: “It was a wave of love that we had to ride as we swam in the deep waters of her loss in the physical. So many of you still feel her energy around you as we do. Whenever she and I talked of death, which was often, with great curiosity and awe, she promised that she would send signs and messages when she passed. Although I deeply feel her grace in this now, I look forward to her “guidance from a higher realm” on the way forward. An angel and guardian for us all.”
News broke on December 27, 2024 that Dale had died at the age of 76. Local police officials confirmed that she was found unconscious inside Ryan and her husband Mark Blucas‘ Pennsylvania farmhouse after suspected carbon monoxide.

“On behalf of myself, my husband and her beloved grandchildren, we thank you for your thoughts and prayers, which are not just words, but acts of devotion to others’ pain and suffering, all of which are deeply felt by us,” Ryan wrote in Tuesday. “Your words and love are truly supportive and uplifting. … We will honor her in a joyous celebration of life, in her beloved city of New York, in the coming weeks.”
She added: ‘Wishing you a new year of love and a fulfilling life. May we all intend to live this year led by the heart, sharing small and large acts of kindness in the way that Dale most embodied. It really becomes our legacy.”

Dale is survived by Ryan, whom she shares with her ex Glenn Swamand her four grandchildren. Ryan shares two daughters with Blucas, 52, and two older children with her ex-husband Christian Slater.
“She always talked about how she was after my soul and no one else’s. Being my mom is what she said meant the most to her,” Ryan concluded. “Her the role of grandmotherher favorite. Today, I honor her as the creator of my life, into which she put so much depth and meaning.”
