It has been an exciting summer of Test cricket action Australiawith more to come as a climax to the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 arrives in Sydney. In the midst of this, Cricket Australia have now named their Test Team of the Year for 2024 with significant representation from non-Australian cricketers.
Players from six nations have been named in Cricket Australia’s 2024 Team of the Year
Cricket Australia has fielded cricketers from 6 cricket playing countries including England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and Australia. Interestingly, England has the most positions with 3 English batsmen Ben Duckett, Joe Root and Harry Brooke who features in Cricket Australia’s standout XI.
Sri Lanka and South Africa have one appearance each in the form of middle-order batting Kamindu Mendis and sense of rotation Keshav Maharaj from the two nations respectively. Strike guard Alex Carey and pacemaker Josh Hazelwood they are the two Australians to have earned a place in the team.

Two Indian stars feature in the Test XI
The two Indians featured in Australia’s Cricket’s XI open the batting Yashasvi Jaiswal and pacemaker jasprit bumrah. In addition, Bumrah has also been appointed as the captain of the team. The 31-year-old captained the Indian team in the first Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth which India won by 295 runs.
Jaiswal was the highlight of the match, playing a knock of 161 runs in the second innings. Since then, Australia have made a comeback in the series by winning the day-night clash in Adelaide and the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, but Jaiswal and Bumrah have constantly troubled the Aussies in the series.
Bumrah is the leading wicket taker of the series with 30 wickets to his name and best bowling figures of 6/76. Jaiswal, on the other hand, is the second highest run-scorer in the series behind Travis Head. The youngster has scored a total of 359 runs in the series so far at an average of 51.28.
