A conservative school board in Washington State Asks the Trump administration to intervene after pressure to meet a state model policy in the field of gender inclusiveness in schools that the Council says that the Council of Federal Guidelines is in conflict.
The Mead School Board wrote letters to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice on Tuesday and asked for federal assistance in resolving the legal perilous situation about the State “Gender-inclusive schools“Policy 3211, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender identity in schools in accordance with Washington’s law.
The letters explain that the school district was imposed by the Washington State Office of the Superintendent or Public Instruction (OSPI) to revise its current gender identity policy to conform to the policy of the model in the entire state. However, the board argues that the state of mandate in conflicts with President Donald Trump‘s Executive orders about gender ideology in schools and the protection of women’s sports.
The board argues that it was placed in ‘an impossible position’, such as compliance with the Ospi mandate in jeopardizing their federal financing, but a failure to satisfy can lead to ‘financial fines and loss of financing imposed by the government’.

The school board says that the community has spoken “deep opposition” against the required changes, including the prevention of school staff Bring parents of the sexual identity of a child without students’ permission.
“We are a Red School District in a blue state,” said Michael Cannon of Mead School Board Michael Cannon The spokesperson review. “That is a very difficult place to be in.”
The current policy of the school district is an attempt at a “middle ground” between the mandate of the state and protecting the rights of parents, the Board’s letter say.
In February, a government assessment of the superintendent found in February that the policy of the district was not in accordance with the gender-inclusive policy guidelines of the state. They have 30 days to take correctional action, according to the OSPI.
“Not only is the school board confronted with a legal dilemma (not of its own), but it is also placed in the untenable position to be ‘unable to win’ with his stakeholders and voters, whose majority tries to maintain the concepts in Ospi in policy 3211,” the Mead School does, “the Mead School. “As a school board we have become cannon food in a continuous cultural war.”
The board asks the Education and the Ministry of Justice Department to protect its federal financing, to provide guidelines that confirm that federal policy has precedents about conflicting state requirements and the office of the superintendent for violations of civil rights with regard to Title IX and protection of parent rights under federal legislation.

“We are fighting to protect the educational stability of more than 10,000 students, and we will not assist if government agencies are troubled parental rights, disadvantage female athletes and have our ability to serve students,” said Cannon in a statement.
The office of the superintendent of public instruction defended the state policy when he was reached for comment.
“Wet laws in Washington already meet the articles of association of federal civil rights and non -discrimination,” said an OSPI spokesperson Fox News Digital. “States are permitted to offer greater protection for students than what is needed by minimal federal standards, and the Washington laws fit in the range of what is permitted by federal law.”
“Federal executive orders or interpretative correspondence that demand a different approach have no independent power legislation and therefore do not require a change in school policy. Such changes in school policy can expose students to discrimination based on gender identity or gender expression,” they added.
