A student at Columbia University President Donald Trump and other senior officials have sued after they tried to withdraw her permanent resident status and remove her from the United States.
A lawsuit was brought on Monday after immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) received an administrative order for the arrest of 21-year-old Yunseo Chung and the South Korean resident told that her status was “withdrawn”.
The lawsuit claims that the administration “is part of a larger pattern of an attempt at the US government of the constitutionally protected protest activity”.
“The repression of the government has specifically aimed at university students who speak out in solidarity with Palestinians and who are critical of the constant military campaign of the Israeli government in Gaza or the pro-Israeli policy of the US government and other US institutions,” is the suit.

The Pak mentions Trump and State Secretary Marco Rubio, Attorney General Pamela Bondi, secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Name, acting director of Ice Todd Lyons and acting field office director of the New York Ice William Joyce.
“The actions of the government are an unprecedented and unjustified attack on the first amendment and other rights, one that cannot tolerate basic research,” says the suit. “Simply put, immigration enforcement—Her, immigration -detention and endangered deportation -cannot be used as an aid to punish non -burger speakers who express political views that have been promoted by current administration. “

Chung has been involved in the Pro-Palestinian protests On campus but did not spoke to the press or in a controversial position such as Mahmoud Khalil, a former student of Columbia and legal immigrant who is confronted with deportation.

Her name was mentioned in media reports after participating in a protest on March 5. She was arrested for alleged ‘obstruction of the government’, but the university knew her of misconduct during the disciplinary procedure with regard to its protest activities.
It was shortly thereafter, the lawsuit claims that ice came after her, went to her family’s house to find her and searched her dormitory.
“Now officials of the highest echelons of the government of immigration enforcement try to use as a bludgeon to suppress speech they don’t like, including the speech of Mrs. Chung,” they said.
On Tuesday, a federal court placed a temporarily limiting order on ice and said that Chung cannot arrest and deport. The expiry of the order is determined by another judicial order.

“We have informed you to all resident aliens who participated in the pro-jihadist protests: come 2025, we will find you, and we will deport you,” Trump is quoted in a fact sheet published by the White House. “I will also quickly cancel the student visa of all Hamas sympathizers at university campuses, which are infected with radicalism like never before.”
