A professor at Columbia University who called Hamas on October 7 attacks on Israel “awesome” will soon teach a course on Zionism at the Ivy League school.
The class led by Joseph Massad will cover the “History of the Jewish Enlightenment (Haskala) in 19th century Europe and the development of Zionism through the current peace process between the State of Israel and the Arab states and the Palestinian national movement,” according to a description on Columbia’s website .
The day after Hamas launched its bloody attack on Israel, Massad posted a column on the website The electronic intifadasaying: “The sight of the Palestinian resistance fighters storming the Israeli checkpoints separating Gaza from Israel was astonishing, not only for the Israelis, but especially for the Palestinian and Arab peoples who came across the region to march in support of the Palestinians in their struggle against their cruel colonizers.”
“No less amazing were the scenes witnessed by millions of jubilant Arabs who watched the news all day, of Palestinian fighters from Gaza breaking through the Israeli prison fence or soaring over it through the air,” he added.

“Joseph Massad, who is an apologist for October 7 (who calls it “amazing” and “incredible”), will teach a Zionism course at Columbia University. What’s next in Columbia? (Former leader of the Ku Klux Klan) David Duke teaches a course on anti-racism.”
Lawrence Rosenblatt, adjunct professor of international and public affairs, Lawrence Rosenblatt has reportedly resigned over the class.

“While Massad has the right to think what he thinks and speak what he believes, Columbia has a responsibility to teach objectively and fairly,” Rosenblatt wrote in a resignation letter obtained by the government. Jerusalem Post. “At best, one might be able to tolerate a lesson on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict taught from the many different Israeli and Palestinian perspectives, but not by someone who advocates the extermination of a group of people.”
