Collapse! Tank Davis loses it when asked about Facing Shakur & Haney

Gervonta Davis was incensed today when he was reminded that he previously said he would fight Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney before retiring. Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) vehemently denied saying that and appeared ready to post.

With the ‘Face of Boxing’ Tank revealing this week that he is retiring at the end of 2025 after three more fights, the media is holding his feet to the fire, pressing him for answers about WHEN he will fight Shakur and Haney. He closed this question too quickly.

Tank’s eyes widened when asked about these two and he looked ready to explode. It was a good thing Devin and Stevenson weren’t in the room. You could tell by the way Davis reacted that he wasn’t playing. He is NEVER going to fight these guys. Davis says he has three games left, but it’s unlikely any of those guys will get the option next time.

“You said before you retired that you wanted to fight Devin and Sakur. Is that still the plan?” a member of the media told Tank Davis today.

“I never said that. When did I say that? But I definitely would,” Gervonta said about being interested in wrestling Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson.

After the way Davis reacted to the question, future journalists should avoid this topic. They are like the third rail for Tank, who wants nothing to do with these two.

The possible final three

  1. Ryan Garcia: Tank’s biggest money fight
  2. Vasily Lomachenko
  3. Teofimo Lopez

Naturally, Stevenson was upset when he saw Gervoda’s reaction today, seeing that payday he had hoped to arrive in 2025 swinging out the door. It would be a good idea for Shakur to get his hopes up in this match because Tank doesn’t seem to be kidding.

Promoter Eddie Hearn should cross Tank’s name off the list as a potential opponent for Shakur next year. He said today that he wants William Zepeda for Stevenson after his February 22 fight with Floyd Schofield. He was hoping Gervonta would be Shakur’s third fight in 2025, but that doesn’t look promising.

The money would be huge for Shakur, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. What Stevenson has to deal with to win the tank race is obvious. He’s a runner and failed to fight the guys he needed to get his name up.

For 2025, Shakur can fight these guys:

– Floyd Schofield
– William Zepeda
– Edwin De Los Santos

Shakur Stevenson: “Every time my name is called, the boy gets really emotional, if he bothers you, put him in the ring, gangster,” Shakur Stevenson said Xreacting to Gervonta Davis responding to a reporter when his name was mentioned today at the press conference “Tell (Gervonta) to fight me then.”
