Cole Palmer is a doubt for Monday’s game

Chelsea could be without playmaker Cole Palmer when they take on an improved Wolves in the Premier League on Monday night.

Palmer has scored 14 Premier League goals this season – along with four assists – and has been key to how the club are playing under Enzo Maresca.

The manager said: “Cole hasn’t trained and we have three or four players who are doubtful for Monday’s game because in the last game they had some problems.

“Cole, in the first half (of the last game) he was kicked, so he didn’t train today, we don’t know if he will train tomorrow.

“We rely on Cole because he is a big player. We prefer to play with Cole, but if he has an injury or a problem, we will find a solution.”

One player who could be available to return is defender Trevoh Chalabah.

Chalabah was recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace this week and Maresca said it was an easy decision to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.

“It was an easy process in the sense that we have a few injuries and we were looking for a solution,” Maresca said. “The best solution was to call Trev back because we know him and we know he can help us.

“He knows the house better than I do – he was born here! He is very happy. I had a chat with him a few days ago and this morning. He is very happy to be here.

“The reason he left was because of those kinds of problems, finances and that kind of thing, not just a technical decision.”

Chelsea go into the weekend in fifth place in the Premier League. They are winless in five Premier League games (D3 L2), having won five in a row before that.
