“She came to him before she filed (any) suit and said, ‘I believed I was wronged by you,'” lawyer and legal commentator Donte Mills stated in the upcoming three-episode Law & Crime podcast series, The rise and fall of Didiaccording to a preview obtained by Guardian on Monday, December 2. “And she gave him an opportunity to settle the case before filing (a) lawsuit.”
Mills claims in Part 1 of the series, which airs Wednesday, Dec. 4, that he is intimately familiar with the case.
“I know that both Shawn Combs’ attorneys and Cassie’s attorneys have been in conversation, in conversations to see if they could settle the case, but they were unable to and those settlement talks fell through,” the lawyer claimed.
In November 2023 Cassie (real name Cassandra Venture) filed a lawsuit against Didi55, accusing him of raping her, forcing her to have sex with male prostitutes on camera and physically harming her during their relationship. Exes dated and dated from 2007 to 2018.
“After years in silence and darkness, I’m finally ready to tell my story and speak up for myself and for other women who are facing violence and abuse in their relationships,” Cassie said in a statement at the time.
Cassie’s lawyer Douglas Wigdor also claimed Diddy offered his client “eight figures” in an attempt to “shut her up,” which Cassie denied.
Diddy denied Cassie’s claims in a statement provided to Us Weekly by his legal team. “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations,” Ben Brafman said us in November 2023 “For the past six months, Mr. Combs has been subjected to Ms. Ventura’s persistent demand for $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which has been unequivocally dismissed as clear blackmail.”
Diddy’s attorney claims, “Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit filled with baseless and outrageous lies in order to tarnish Mr. Combs’ reputation and seek a payday.”
While Didi was in denial Cassie’s allegations of sexual assault and batteryshe confirmed for us through her attorney that one day after the lawsuit was filed, she and Didi settled.
“I have decided to resolve this matter amicably provided I have some level of control,” the November 2023 statement said. “I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers their unwavering support.”

Didi also addressed the settlement through her lawyer, saying us“We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. love.
While Cassie and Didi settled their case quickly, it was simple the beginning of Didi’s legal troubles.
“I really believe in the fall of Sean Combs … started (with) the Cassie Ventura case,” Mills said in Part 1 of the The Rise and Fall of Didi, through The Guardian.
In March, Diddy’s homes in Miami and Los Angeles were searched and he was arrested in connection with a human trafficking investigation.
In the months that followed, Didi was accused of rape, abuse and drugging his alleged past victims, many of whom claim the musician assaulted them decades ago.
As the cases against Diddy began to pile up, his past with Cassie was pushed back into the spotlight. in May CNN received video recordings the rapper is said to have 2016 Kasi attack.
“My behavior in this video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. I’m disgusted,” Diddy said via Instagram, apologizing for his actions but not mentioning Cassie by name. “I went and got professional help. I went to therapy, to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better person every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m really sorry.”
Diddy was indicted on sex trafficking and racketeering charges in September. Before the court date, Diddy requested gag order related to the video of him to hurt Cassie, which us confirmed in October prosecutors oppose. Prosecutors too rejected Didi’s claim that they “produced” the 2016 video.
Didi, who remains adamant that he is innocent, was they refused bail four times before his trial in 2025.
