Jamie Carragher says he is “frustrated” that Trent Alexander-Arnold wants to leave Liverpool and suggested that his reported move to Real Madrid is to boost his “brand”.
The reports have been highlighted this week that the Reds Right-back is willing to participate in the real one when its contract expires this summer, with some indicating that Anfield’s hero has already agreed a five-year agreement to move to Bernabeu.
The news has not fallen well with the fans, who have criticized the Liverpool defender for a desire to depart from the club as well as the way he is exit, who is about to see him leave the club for free.
Carragher ‘frustrated’ in Trent
And now Pundit and former player Carragher, who spent his entire Anfield career, has weighed in the situation, with the 47-year-old saying he is frustrated that Alexander-Arnold feels he has to look elsewhere to compete with the biggest awards.
Said to the Stick to the football podcast: “Where I am, is that as a local player and fan of Liverpool, Liverpool are able to compete for the championship and a European cup every year.
“So if you are a Liverpool fan and a local player. I’m just frustrated that he doesn’t think this is.
“I put myself in his place, where I would think we could go with Manchester United in a league trophy, I have another seven or eight years in Liverpool and I want to get three or four ahead of them, with some other European cups.”
Carragher: Real Move to Strengthen the Trent brand
Alexander-Arnold has played a key role as a Liverpool Look that will win the Premier League under Arne Slot this season, but talked about his desire to win the Ballon D’Or in the past.
And Carragher believes that the 26 -year -old wants to move to the Spanish giants to build his personal afterwards.
“I think Trent is a player who looks at himself almost like a brand, and that’s not just him. Many players are doing now,” he explained.
“I return to an interview with Sky Sports before Christmas, where he was given five choices to choose the most important for you – Liverpool captain, won the Champions League with Liverpool. He won the World Cup with England or won Ballon D’Or.
“He wanted to be the first full width that the Ballon d’Or won, and there is nothing wrong with ambition, but that didn’t go down very well with Liverpool supporters.”

Carragher: The reaction was ‘toxic’
Carragher said he understands the negative reaction to the news that Alexander-Arnold wants to leave, but insists he is moving as this is part of the game.
“It seems that there is no thing that people are unhappy with – he leaves a free or that he should go out and say to the club earlier – people are angry for three or four different things,” Carragher added.
“I am not angry at the free. In an ideal world. Liverpool will get £ 70 million or £ 80 million to reinveit. But you can’t have both ways as a supporter.
“If Liverpool signs someone in a free summer, we will all be happy. So does it mean that his former club should hate him absolutely?
“Also, when you are a local player you do not cost anything – Trent is going on free is like Virgil Van Dijk to leave for £ 75 million. We would still break up.”
