Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., Announced plans to walk for Florida Governor next year during an interview on Fox News ‘Hannity’ Tuesday evening.
The next gubernatorial elections in Florida are planned for November 3, 2026. Speaking to host Sean Hannity, Donalds said he came to “run a lot of thoughts with my family and my friends after a lot of prayer (s).”
“Sean, we have a wonderful state,” said Donalds. “I came to Florida when I was 17 years old, from a whites bus with just a trunk full of clothes. And in the rest of my time in Florida I built a family, I built a career. … I was able to do that for four years In a state legislator, four years in the congress.
“And I think it’s time now to take the cloak and lead our state to the future.”
Ron Desantis: Florida was doo before it was cool

The Republican of Florida said he is the only candidate in the race so far and has praised Florida Government Ron Desantis for his service to the state.
“We have a great governor. Ron Desantis has done a great job for our state,” said Donalds. “But now it is task to keep the best state in the country when the best is in the country. And so that is the mission obvious. And I am delighted to announce my candidacy with you.”
Donalds was approved by President Donald Trump, He recently wrote that his co -resident of Sunshine State “would be a really great and powerful governor for Florida.”
“I hear that very respected Congressman Byron Donalds Is considering walking for Governor of Florida, a state that I love, and won great in 2016, 2020 and 2024, “said a social media post in Trump.
“(S) can he decide to run, (Donalds) will have my full and total approval. Run, Byron, Run!”

However, Desantis has not signaled support for Donalds. On Monday, Desantis said reporters that he wants congress members in Florida ‘aimed at performing (Trump’s) agenda’.
“They haven’t done much yet,” said Desantis. “They do not put his executive orders in place. We will see what they do about the expenditure, but we have such a scary majority that to try to campaign and miss these voices, I think, is not something that is That is advisable. “
The comments from Desantis were the midst of rumors that his wife, Casey, could walk for Governor. The Governor of Florida avoided the question of a reporter about his wife’s plans during a press conference Monday.

“People ask me all the time about our great First Lady, who has done fantastic work as First Lady of Florida,” Desantis replied. “I’ll tell you this. You’re talking about someone like them. I won with the greatest margin that every Republican ever won the race of a governor here in Florida. She would do better than me. ”
