Brothers, roommate of illegal immigrant who killed Laeken Riley to be deported


Jose Ibarra’s brother, a 26-year-old Venezuelan illegal immigrant who was convicted of murdering the 22-year-old nurse student Laken Riley 22 February 2024, while on the University of Georgia Campuswas sentenced to imprisonment and deportation after he was guilty of having a fake green card during the murder investigation.

Less than a month later, on April 30, 2023, he tried to break into the country again with four other Venezuelan men to cross the border near Ysleta Station in El Paso, Texas.

In a fight with agents from the Border Patrol (USBP) of the United States, Diego Ibarra grabbed the service radio of an agent before trying to bite the agent. The meeting was split by members of the National Guard.

He was taken to a hospital after complaining about chest pain and pain in his back and leg, which he attributed to the scaling and falling out of the border fence during his illegal crossing.

After he had admitted his injuries, he did not come from the fight with agents, he claimed asylum and “fear of returning” to Venezuela.

ACCPD also responded to a domestic incident with Diego Ibarra and his girlfriend 26 September 2023.

While he was imprisoned in the Deges County detention center for the fake documents found during the Riley Murder Investigation, Diego Ibarra caused “serious water damage” when he broke a prison block sprinkler system, according to the statement.

On June 25, 2024, prison guards Ibarra with two improvised weapons, including a sharpened sprinkler head with an improvised grip and a pen wrapped in Saran Wrap.

Jose Ibarra was convicted on November 20, 2024 for murder of malice, three counts of crime and abuse with the intention, including charges, in the Supreme Court of Athens-Clarke County.

He is a life sentence.
