Liverpool seek their first Premier League win of 2025 when they visit Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds have stumbled to draws with Manchester United and Nottingham Forest in their last two Premier League games, with their lead at the summit cut to just four points from Arsenal – although the Reds have a game in hand on their rivals in London. Another slip at the Gtech Community Stadium would put Arne Slot’s side under huge pressure from their title rivals.
Brentford built a home fort at the start of the season but their unbeaten run in west London has crumbled in recent weeks. They are now without a win in four home games, including an FA Cup third round exit at Plymouth Argyle. They secured a dramatic late comeback against Manchester City last time though.

Brentford struggled injuries this season and remain without some important players. Key centre-back Ethan Pinnock is sidelined with a hamstring problem, joining fellow defenders Aaron Hickey and Kristoffer Ajer in the treatment room. Sepp van den Berg will line up at the heart of the defense against his former employers.
Joshua Dasilva and Gustavo Nunes are long-term absentees, while summer signing Igor Thiago is suffering from an infection following a knee injury. The expensive Brazilian has featured in just four Premier League games this season.
Brentford predicted line-up against Liverpool (4-3-3): The point? Roerslev, Collins, Van den Berg, Henry; Janelt, Norgaard, Jensen; Mbeumo, Wissa, Schade.
Liverpool have been relatively lucky with injuries in Slott’s first season and the Dutch manager is only missing versatile defender Joe Gomez for Saturday’s trip to the capital. He is likely to return in February from his hamstring problem.
Diogo Jota’s immediate impact from the bench in midweek in theory it would have earned him a start on Saturday, but the power forward is an injury doubt. Darwin Nunez, however, has served a one-game suspension. Dominik Szoboszlai made his Premier League return from a combination of suspension and illness at the City Ground on Tuesday.
Liverpool predicted line-up against Brentford (4-2-3-1): Alisson? Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas? Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.
It could be chaos at Gtech on Saturday. Liverpool are the top scorers in the division but have struggled to shoot clean in recent weeks, while Brentford have scored more home goals than any team in the Premier League but they have endured similar defensive struggles. The Bees have conceded 37 times in their 21 games this year.
Liverpool’s swing may be coming to an end in the capital, but it is unlikely to be convincing against a Brentford side that rarely go down without a fight. They will be hoping to pack a few punches against the Reds, who will need to be alert and persistent on Saturday afternoon.
