Benavidez claims that “tougher puncher” after a close call

David Benavidez (30-0, 24 kos) possessed in the media that he “hit harder” by David Morrell (11-1, 9 kos), after defeating him with 12 round unanimous decision in a match much closer than results converted by Nevada judges on Saturday night.

Going out of appearances, the relatively unnecessary Morrell is definitely hitting hard than Benavidez. It was a close struggle that could be a tie, but the judges gave it to the “Mexican monster” from the scores 115-111, 115-111 and 118-108.

The referee interrupted Morrell’s dynamics when he was punished for the ring after the bell to finish the 11th round. Morrell had hurt Benavidez and was trying to finish him. We will never know what would happen, but the timetable of this discount was bad.

Benavidez fought as always, throwing a lot of punches and using his work rate as his defense to promote his opponent. The Cuban Morrell focused more on landing hard shots from the Benavidez Scattergun approach.

After the race, Benavidez said he wanted his winner Beterbiev against Dmitry Bivol 2 to come to the US to defend against him. It is not clear if it expects it to happen. This would be amazing if it happened. Benavidez must have a problem me if he really believes that Beterbiev-Bivol 2 winner will volunteer to fight him in the US

Benavidez’s claim

“I know how to work a 12 -round race. He hit harder than anyone I encountered, but I hit harder. I showed the level at which I am,” Benavidez said after his victory over Morrell. “I was bigger and stronger and better dancer. I got control of the race right away. I can attack every corner of the body.

“This is Monster’s world.”

Benavidez does not hit harder than Morrell, nor did he hit the puncher harder than Yoenli Hernandez, who fought at Undercard.
