During a campaign video on the proposed reforms to childcare in the United Kingdom, with the participation of the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom David Lammyposted on Facebook on Friday, Jan. 17, Keoghan, 32, offered rare comments about fathering son Brando, 2, who he shares with his ex-girlfriend Alison Sandro.

Keoghan’s latest comments come after the star defended herself in the face of online accusations being a “deadbeat dad”. During an interview on “The Louis Theroux Podcast” in September 2024, Keoghan acknowledged that insensitive comments online trolls had posted recently.
“There’s a lot online. If I didn’t have tough skin or strength, I wouldn’t be sitting here,” Keoghan told the host Louis Theroux. “Of course, (his childhood) would affect me as a father when I didn’t have a blueprint to draw from. People just read that (as) laziness and go, “Oh, that’s no excuse to be an absent father.” I’m not an absent father.
The charges are believed to have been sparked by an interview Keoghan gave to Entertainment Weekly earlier that month in which he opened up about his relationship with Brando. “I’ll just say this – I didn’t have a father figure growing up, so even my relationship with my son isn’t quite a normal father-son relationship because I don’t have that figure to draw experience from and base it off of,” said Keoghan ahead of the 2024 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. on September 12.

During Keoghan’s conversation with Theroux, 54, he said: “People like to use my son as ammunition or something. And that kind of makes me stop, the more attention (I get) lately and the more social I become, the less I post about my kid because I don’t think it’s fair to have my kid online. And because I ran that, people paint a narrative and say, “Absent father, t…, dead father” and even more disgusting things that I wouldn’t even repeat. Just the audacity of some people, man. It disgusts me, I get mad.”
Keoghan and Sandro, a dental nurse and orthodontic therapist, met in early 2021 before calling it quits in the summer of 2023.
