The New York Yankees seem to think they are doing everything they can to bounce back from the loss of Juan Soto.

But their rivals, the Houston Astros apparently they think they are low in terms of arguably their best player.

It has become clear that the Astros are willing to trade Kyle Tucker this offseason as he enters his final year of team control. The lefty slugger thinks he can collect a lot of money this time next year.

With Soto headed to Queens, the Yankees need to fill a hole in their outfield, and they’re looking at Tucker.

The two sides have reportedly spoken, but they appear far apart.

According to NJ.com, the Astros believe the Yankees made a “crap” offer for the three-time All-Star.

“I spoke to someone in the Astros’ front office and was told the Yankees were not offering anything the Astros wanted,” NJ.com’s Randy Miller wrote Thursday. ‘Nothing. They think the Yankees offered bullshit.”

The executive Miller spoke to apparently said the Yankees have only offered low-level prospects.

The Astros apparently want a package to start with reigning Rookie of the Year Luis Gil.

Houston has also been in talks with the Chicago Cubs about outfielder Seiya Suzuki and infielder Isaac Paredes.

The MLB winter meetings are now over, but there are still about ten weeks before spring training begins. So there is plenty of time.

The Yankees attempted to sign Max Fried to an eight-year deal worth $218 million, the most lucrative contract ever given to a left-hander.

If the Yankees get Tucker, it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve traded for a lefty outfielder entering a contract year. That’s what they did with Soto last year.
