Arsenal may go ‘at a different level’ against PSV says Arteta

Arsenal’s director, Michael Artetta, says the Gunners will adapt to find a “different level” when they face PSV in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday.

Arteta’s side is without Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli through an injury and only made three shots in the target in the last two games.

The midfielder Mikel Merino could start again in an attack on a PSV side that has only held a clean leaf in their last 14 matches.

“We still have speeds with the players we need to get the game at a different level,” Arteta said.

“Every person must be at their best. And when we do this, and we have this connection, we are a really strong team.

“We have to adapt. This is obviously undeniable, but we can still be very effective and a top team. And when you reach this stage of the Champions League, there is something else.

“You feel it in the atmosphere and the energy of the place. It’s something else because it’s a competition you don’t play weekly. You play and you are in or you are out. And that gives you urgency.”

Left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly could return to the composition after being suspended for the miserable draw at Nottingham Forest last week.

Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid are waiting for the quarter -finals if Arsenal can tour their way.
