People were also recommended to record such searches and how they can distinguish between different warrants that IJsmatents will probably wear.
“Only because someone ends up on ice radar and ice, believes that they can deport someone, this does not mean that the person can be deported under the law or that they do not have the option to combat their case to stay in the US,” said Genia Blaser, from the immigrant defense project a non-profit-based non-profit. The explanation of the group is to combat the targeting of immigrants for mass prison and deportation.
“And even if during a meeting with ice cream, what they do does not feel legal, legal or does not feel honest, it is important to know that everyone has rights during their meetings with ice,” said Blaser. “Everyone has rights, regardless of their immigration status in the United States.”
The 54-minute live stream was aimed at migrants who live in the 14th district of Ocasio-Cortez, which includes part of Queens and the Bronx.
Ocasio-Cortez did not participate in the webinar but uploadt tips to Instagram-Via posters in both English and Spanish and called up its followers to share and study the posters.
“Our strategic benefit at the moment is our strength in figures,” wrote Ocasio-Cortez. “It is time to use it. In almost all ways we surpass those who want to abuse their power and keep people in fear. The truth is that they do not find out behind us all. That is why they actively use and create fear: Let us give up in advance and withdraw from public life without taking a finger. “
She also called on her followers to print the posters and “take them in your workplace or to keep them at your door.”
“So if ice comes to your workplace or home, whether you are a citizen or not -citizen, you can defend your community and our constitution by exercising your right,” she wrote.

During the webinar, the hosts told viewers that the fourth amendment – which provides protection against unreasonable searches and seizures by the government – applies to everyone, applies Including migrants.
“So there is a general rule here in private spaces, ice needs an order signed by a judge or your permission to enter that space or to do a search. When we over public spaces have ICE needed to do an arrest, “said himself as Laura.
She explained the difference between a judicial order and an administrative order and said that only a judicial order gives ice authority to initiate a search.
However, she said that ice rarely has a judicial order, which means that ICE agents need permission to enter a house.
“But they often use lists or intimidation to mislead people to do things or say things they can interpret as permission to come in,” she said.
“And so that is really the goal of lists. Because they don’t have an order, they must get your permission to come in, they want to mislead you by thinking that they are not ice or that they lie so that your cattle believe that They have the right to enter or that they want to intimidate or frighten you so that you do not want to apply your rights. “
The hosts also recommend that people document interactions with ICE by taking video recording or notes, and say that this information can be useful for the rights groups of local immigrants and friends or family members.
They also shared their own trends about how ice has carried out searches in recent weeks.

“In particular in the past few weeks, ice officers will go to Huizen early in the morning to make arrests,” said Blaser. “They will put people on the street or in public places, including a public space from a workplace. So that can be the front of a restaurant or somewhere where everyone from the audience can walk in.”
She also said that unmarked ice vehicles also stop cars when people drive to work or at home, while people who may be under supervision were taken into custody during check -in with ice.
“It can be everywhere from two or three agents to a group of eight agents,” said Blaser. “They are often very aggressive and the encounters can happen very quickly.”
