Angelina JolieHer roles increased as she got older in Hollywood.
“I have a better job as I get older,” Jolie, 49, said during an interview with UK’s Sunday TimesPosted on Sunday, December 1st. “I don’t think about it in terms of the roles offered, but in terms of the life experience you contribute. It’s easier for actors than it is for singers or dancers because your body doesn’t change.”
Jolie reflects on her career as she promotes her role as an opera singer Maria Callas in the new movie Mariawhich will be released on Netflix later this month.
The actress said she related to Callas, who died in 1977, because of the singer’s “devotion to her work”.
“I’m a hard worker,” Jolie said. “And a deeply feeling man. Maria is vulnerable because she feels and sometimes cannot protect herself from loneliness or emotional pain. Because part of her life and work is to be extremely human and to live that way.”

Just like Callas, the star said she lives “through (her) communication with the audience,” which is just another thing they have in common.
“For Maria and for me, this has always been extremely important,” Jolie added.
The profile reveals that the actress spent seven months taking singing and Italian lessons to prepare for the role. Jolie’s voice is mixed with Callas’s for the film’s ending score.
The film also became a family affair, as Jolie’s sons Maddox, 23, and Pax, 20, were hired as production assistants on set.
“They were able to look at the relationships in the film and the violence,” Jolie said The Times for her children. “Things you sometimes don’t get a chance to discuss with your sons, so I felt lucky.”
Jolie shares Maddox and Pax, along with Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16, with her ex-husband Brad Pitt. She and Pitt, 60, split in 2016. and have been in an ongoing legal battle ever since.
In recent years, the actress has been frank about how she takes care of her six children comes before her career – especially in terms of direction.
“I love to direct, but I had a change in my family situation that prevented me from directing for several years,” Jolie told Entertainment Weekly in April 2021 “I just needed to do shorter assignments and be at home more, so I kind of went back to a few acting jobs. This is indeed the very truth.”
During the Sunday interview with The TimesJolie seemed to double down on that decision.
“My work is not everything,” she said. “Being a parent is everything.”
