Ancelotti happy to see ‘dangerous’ Mbappe in Real Madrid win

Carlo Ancelotti praised Kylian Mbappe for his “dangerous” display after Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Getafe on Sunday.

Mbappe silenced recent criticism with a spectacular goal after missing a penalty against Liverpool in midweek.

Real Madrid took the lead in the 30th minute when Jude Bellingham converted from the spot.

Moments later, Bellingham set up Mbappe for a brilliant long-range strike that went off the post and into the net, doubling Madrid’s advantage.

The win moved Madrid within touching distance of LaLiga leaders Barcelona, with Madrid holding a game in hand.

“(Mbappe) was dangerous as always,” Ancelotti said during his post-match press conference.

“He scored an important goal that helped us control the game better.

“He created chances in the second half as well. It was a very active performance and that’s exactly what we expect from him.”

Mbappe’s recent form had come under scrutiny as the Frenchman had scored just twice in nine games before Sunday.

However, his goal against Getafe marked the first time since September that he has scored in back-to-back LaLiga games.

“It’s a relief, yes,” added Ancelotti.

“At 2-0, your chances of securing the win increase… It was a spectacular goal, fantastic. (Mbappe’s) overall performance was outstanding.

“The fans recognize the form of both the team and individual players. Their support for Mbappe was well deserved.”

Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham was substituted at half-time due to injury, but Ancelotti downplayed concerns over the midfielder’s condition.

“Bellingham had a problem with his neck and couldn’t continue,” Ancelotti explained. “I think he will recover in a few days.”

Looking ahead, Real Madrid face a busy schedule. They travel to Athletic Club on Wednesday and Girona on Saturday for their LaLiga games, followed by a Champions League clash at Atalanta.
