The Rangers had a mixed season. They are 13 points behind Celtic in the title match, but automatically qualified for the knockout round in the Europa League.
Coach Philippe Clement remains a dividing figure between supporting the club, as McCoist recognized.
“I think at the moment, the majority of Rangers’ followers have accepted that Philippe Clement has been given the support of the Board of Directors,” the former Scotland striker added.
“In a fair condition, there was a steady improvement in performances and results – they did very well to finish in the top eight on the Europa League table, especially given the power of some of the teams they played.
“Having said this, some of the shows away from home were completely unacceptable. They were really poor in some games.”
