Former England boss UNDER-21, Aidy Boothroyd, has been diagnosed with Parkinson.

The 54 -year -old, who worked with several youth teams at the football club between 2014 and 2021, revealed the new ones this morning.

In a statement on the Association Managers Association website, Boothroyd said: “Three years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson.

“The news came as a huge shock to me, following what I was expecting to be LMA’s annual evaluation.

“It took me time to feel ready to share my diagnosis and I find it difficult to not be completely open to people.

“Personally, my passion and love for training are as powerful as always. I focus on maintaining physical adaptation, which is the key to slowing the evolution of Parkinson.

“I’m ready to start the next chapter in my life.

“I would like to thank the UK LMA and Parkinson for their support.”

Boothroyd, who also had spells responsible for Watford, Colchester, Coventry and Northampton, was currently training in India with Jamshedpur.

LMA’s CEO Richard Bevan said: “Aidy presented incredible positivity, resolution and determination from Parkinson’s diagnosis three years ago. His passion for football and people lead him and continues to play an active role in LMA, as a member of the LMA.

“We take deep care of all our members and Aidy’s attitude, since his diagnosis was an inspiration for our whole team, as we continue to support him and his family throughout this unexpected and difficult time.”
