A lifelong Chiefs fan had the experience of a lifetime after dancing with him Travis Kelce during the December 3 episode, Tuesday Are you smarter than a celebrity?
“Now he dances with Taylor Swift me too,” Ali Dees said to Owensboro Times in an interview published on Wednesday, December 4. “I came out of the womb a Chiefs fan. Meeting Travis Kelce and dancing on stage with him was surreal.”
Dees, a travel nurse who currently lives in San Diego, took to the stage in April earlier this year to compete on the Amazon Prime game show, which Kelsey, 35, hosts. The Kentucky native ended up walking away with $15,000 after answering a minimum of five questions correctly to take home the prize; however, the geography subject nearly cost her the win.
“I had to name a US territory that borders Canada but doesn’t touch the mainland,” she said on the way out after the episode aired. “I panicked and recognized Washington. Looking back, it’s embarrassing because the answer was Alaska.
Besides appearing on Are you smarter than a celebrity?Dees said she also appeared in an ad for financial technology company Chime, where she said she won $100,000.
“This whole year has been a whirlwind. Between the game show and the commercial, I was able to live some amazing dreams,” she continued, before reflecting on her experience with Kelce and her time on the show.
“On stage I just wanted to be authentic and enjoy every second,” she said. “That mindset allowed me to embrace the moment and have fun.”
In April, it was announced that Kelce would serve as host of the new game show, which premiered on Amazon Prime in October and is based on Are you smarter than a fifth grader? series.
“I grew up loving game shows and I’m thrilled to follow in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my first show with Are you smarter than a celebrity?” Kelce said in a statement earlier this year. “The original show was a huge success, so introducing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities on screen is sure to be fun.”
