Chelsea are expecting offers for Nkunku in the January transfer window

Chelsea are preparing for bids for Christopher Nkunku from a number of clubs in January, according to reports.

Football Insider sources claim Stamford Bridge have told them the club are expecting interest from Premier League and overseas sides when the transfer window opens in the New Year.

Nkunku, 27, is thought to be “frustrated” with his lack of consistent game time at Chelsea, where a run at the club has been limited to appearances in the Uefa Conference League this season.

Nkunku has appeared in 16 of Chelsea’s 17 league games this season but has only started twice.

Media in Spain are reporting that Nkunku’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has offered the Frenchman’s services to La Liga side Barcelona.

It is believed that Barcelona sporting director Deco is hoping to sign a new striker to compete with Robert Lewandowski, but no action is expected until January.

Barcelona are said to be monitoring a number of potential strikers, with Nkunku’s name on a list also thought to include Marcus Rashford, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Napoli’s Hvitsa Kvaratskelia.

Chelsea are currently enjoying something of a revival under Enzo Maresca. The Blues are second in the Premier League table, unbeaten in their last 12 games in all competitions.

Maresca’s side host Fulham on Boxing Day.
