Man Utd plan post-season trip to comply with Premier League financial regulations


Manchester United are planning a lucrative post-season tour of Malaysia that could see them earn £7.96m in revenue.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been involved in an increasingly joint post-season tour at the end of 2023/24, facing each other in Melbourne, Australia just three days after the Premier League campaign ends.

According to The AthleteMan Utd plan to do something similar after the peak of the current campaign and will travel to Malaysia in a bid to maximize profits and comply with Premier League and UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations.

Plans are still being finalized and the friendly opponents are currently unknown, but the Red Devils will visit Malaysia immediately after the end of the current season. The final round of Premier League fixtures will take place on May 25, with the Europa League and FA Cup finals to come before the top flight is concluded. Ruben Amorim’s side will host Aston Villa on the final day.

Manchester United has a number of players likely to take part in international matches during the June break, but the post-season tour will be completed before those matches take place. The Red Devils are too does not participate in the renewed and expanded FIFA Club World Cup which begins in mid-June.

Australian-based TEG Sports, along with a local Malaysian promoter, are helping to organize the trip, with Man Utd club sources revealing that no plans have been finalized as things stand.

Manchester United have been desperate for ways to cut costs and raise capital since the arrival of minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who still has canceled the club’s annual Christmas party for 2024 in an effort to reduce costs.

Ratcliffe recently increased his stake in Manchester United with a fresh cash injection, investing £79 million in the club which saw its ownership percentage increase to 28.94%.
