
University of Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and his girlfriend Maddie Barneshave already experienced one of the toughest tests of a relationship: going to competing colleges.
Barnes, 21, is currently a student at the University of Oklahoma, while her boyfriend, Ewers, 21, is one of the most recognizable faces in college football in Texas.
Despite the distance and deep-rooted rivalry between their two schools, Barnes and Ewers have been able to make it work since going public with their relationship in February 2023.
Both juniors at their respective universities, Barnes and Ewers have big decisions ahead of them — including whether Ewers will forgo his senior season and enter the 2025 NFL Draft. or possibly transfer to another quarterback phenom school Arch Manning awaiting its end in Texas.

February 2023

Barnes posted the couple’s first photo via Instagram of a trip to Ewers in Austin, Texas.
“It’s not bad here😊😊,” Barnes wrote a trio of photos.
With Ewers wearing a cowboy hat and Barnes rocking white cowboy boots, the pair spent time with Ewers’ teammate Gunnar Helm.

Ewers posted a series of photos, including one on the oceanfront with Barnes in Delray Beach, Florida.
“This is how we do it,” Ewers captions the photos.
Barnes also posted a set of images from the trip, including one of the pair getting cozy in front of a hotel mirror.
September 2023
Barnes was on hand for the Texas Longhorns’ season opener against Rice University.

The couple took another sunny vacation together, this one to Turks and Caicos.
Barnes shared carousel of photos from the trip, which included one of her perched on Ewers’ shoulders as the pair posed on the beach.

Barnes made another trip to Austin to see Ewers.
“Atx for the weekend🧡,” she captioned a photo via Instagram of the couple posing with two friends.
October 2024
At the height of football season, Barnes visited Ewers at practice.
“Keep the weekends coming!!👏🏼👏🏼,” Barnes wrote series of picturesincluding one from the practice facility in Texas.
The photos were posted on October 13, the day after Ewers and the Longhorns defeated Barnes’ Oklahoma Sooners 34-3 in the game known as the Red River Rivalry.
In another photo, a smiling Barnes was seen posing with Ewers outside the Cotton Bowl in Dallas after the big win.
