screams fans were excited to hear the news that Ghostbusters an actress Makena Grace was cast in the last installment of the franchise, shout 7 — but it seems the most excited fan of all is Grace herself.
“I’m so shocked,” said 18-year-old Grace Us Weekly exclusively at iHeartRadio’s Z100 Jingle Ball in New York on December 13. “It’s actually crazy. I have a big bag and there is Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard which I carry with me everywhere.’
Along with Ulrich and Lillard, the original screams the votes were rounded off by David Arquette, Neave Campbell and Courteney Coxand the latter two actresses will also star in the new film, which is due for release in February 2026.
Despite being born a full decade after the 1996 film came out, Grace is well-acquainted with the OG cast.

“I work with comics and once I snuck into one of the photo booths so I could take a picture with the original screams voices,” she said us. “I’m a really, really big fan. This was the hardest secret to keep from my friends, but I’m so excited.
Grace’s casting in the slasher film comes after a series of casting changes over the past year. In November 2023 the news broke this screams (2022) and shout 6 (2023) lead Melissa Barrera was fired from the upcoming film after she was vocal about her support for Palestine. the same month, Jenna Ortega exited the project due to scheduling conflicts.
In March, Campbell announced that he would return as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming film (after missing Vic VI), and this fall, screams franchise alums Mason Gooding and Cox have confirmed that they will also be participating shout 7.
One would think stepping into such a complex and beloved franchise would be daunting, but Grace has the horror chops to prepare her for the role. The young actress’ horror credits include Amityville: The Awakening, Malignant and on Annabelle film series.

All my favorite movies were scary. Tim Burton (movies) were my favorite cartoons, so I’ve always liked creepy stuff and Halloween.”
She continued, “It’s so crazy for me to do the kind of movies that I grew up with, but as sequels. This is very, very strange. It’s very surreal.”
While Grace played coy about the upcoming film’s plot, she said us that “all I can say is I’m really excited.”
