Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has issued a statement after confirming he will miss several weeks with a leg injury.
That injury occurred during last weekend’s Manchester derby, where Mount had to be substituted less than 15 minutes into the game with a muscle problem.
After the game, Mount sought a specialist’s opinion on Wednesday, leading to the diagnosis that he will be sidelined for some time.
The 25-year-old midfielder, visibly distressed, was comforted by his team-mates as he left the pitch at the Etihad Stadium.
Unfortunately, Mount’s time at Manchester United has been marred by injury setbacks, with him missing over 30 games since his move from Chelsea over a year ago.
Mount’s injury woes have been a source of frustration for both him and the club as he continues to
struggling to maintain fitness after high-profile switch to Old Trafford.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has posted on X’s account the statement from Mount in which the midfielder addresses Man United fans following his injury strike.
Mount said:
“Words can’t describe how devastated I feel right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened. I knew what it meant.
“United fans, you may not know me very well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith.
“I’ve said this before, but I’m going to keep giving it my all, get through this tough time and I won’t stop until I get it.”
Mason Mount has been unlucky since joining Manchester United

Mount has been highly rated by new manager Ruben Amorim and has been excited to work under the Portuguese tactician, but injuries have once again derailed his progress at the club.
It’s a big blow for player and club and it won’t be a surprise to see Man United look for a new midfielder in the January transfer window.
They have been linked with a move for Atalanta’s Brazilian midfielder Ederson but the competition will be tough to sign him.
