Rangers now eyeing ‘quiet’ midfielder left cold at Chelsea

Turning their attention to the January transfer window, Rangers they are now reportedly watching a Chelsea flop who is yet to start a Premier League game for the Blues.

Rangers transfer news

The Gers were on the verge of stealing the headlines in the last week, drawing with Tottenham in the Europa League and then losing on penalties to Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final despite Danilo’s last-minute equaliser. In many ways, these setbacks have encapsulated Rangers’ current campaign, which has been full of disappointment Philippe Clement.

With the January transfer window just around the corner too, change could be on the cards. Already, the informed Hamza Igamane has been linked with a move to the Premier League which would be a definite blow to Clement’s hopes of making a miraculous comeback in Scottish Premiership title match. As one star player departs, however, another could arrive as the Gers pull off a stunning coup.

According to Caught Offside, Rangers are now monitoring Kiernan Dewsbury-Hallwho is in desperate need of a move away from Chelsea, having failed to start a single Premier League game since arriving from Leicester City in the summer.

The midfielder, instead, has been forced to earn his minutes in the Europa Conference League in a spell that doesn’t look likely to end anytime soon. Opening the door for Rangers to make their potential move, the Gers will have plenty of competition to fend off his signature.

It could turn out to be a very clever piece of work if they can pull it off.

Along with the Scottish giants, Brighton & Hove Albion, Leicester City, Aston Villa, Fulham, Newcastle and even Manchester United are also interested in signing Dewsbury-Hall. Amid such competition, Rangers would be pulling off an impressive coup if they were to secure the midfielder’s signature in January or the summer.

The “quiet” Dewsbury-Hall would transform Rangers

While a move to Chelsea proved to be a step too far for Dewsbury-Hall, the former Leicester star can recapture his best form at Rangers to transform Clement’s side into one capable of keeping pace with Celtic. Just last season, the midfielder stole the spotlight in the Championship scoring 12 goals and assisting 14 more in league action, taking Leicester to promotion and earning a move to Stamford Bridge in the process.

It was also only last season that Dewsbury-Hall was Enzo Maresca’s main man. Now under the Italian at Chelsea, he has been sidelined and forced to fight for a place in his Premier League team.

The decision is surprising, given that Maresca he told reporters as broadcast by Football League World last season: “At first he was full of responsibility, but since the first international break he has improved a lot.

“He is calm, fantastic on the ball, knows when to attack and what to give to the team. He is so dangerous near the box, and has the quality to score or assist from anywhere. He could have already had 10 or 12 assists. He’s probably the most improved for us and he’s in the perfect position.”
