Chicago community activist sounds loud on migrant crisis: ‘I welcome’ Trump’s border czar

CHICAGO – Community activist and Chicago against violence founder Andre Smith may be a Democrat, but he says he’s willing to work with new Trump border czar Tom Homan to deport illegal immigrants from the Windy City.

“I welcome to Chicago the Border Czar (Tom Homan)” Smith told Fox News Digital in an interview. “And honestly, I wouldn’t mind working with him since I was the first person in Chicago to stand up and fight the migrants.”

Smith, who is also a pastor, has been on the front lines of helping his Chicago community, from helping the homeless population to fighting Mayor Brandon Johnson’s local efforts to disperse migrants throughout the city.

“I would love for him to come to Chicago and work with him and get them back to where they came from quickly,” Smith said of Homan. “Because lying to a federal official is a crime federal crimeand if they came along under the pretext that they are afraid for their lives, then you have women, you have men, and they all said they are afraid for their lives because someone is going to try to kill them, and lie, you have to make examples .”

Smith’s comments come as many Chicagoans are outraged policy of a ‘sanctuary city’ that have brought thousands of migrants to a city already plagued by one of the highest violent crime rates in the US

“Here we are in Chicago, where we should be celebrating a season of joy, love and happiness,” Smith continued. “And a lot of people have Christmas trees and under their trees in Chicago. We’re unwrapping gifts of neglect. We’re unwrapping gifts of disappointment and heartache. We’re unwrapping gifts worth $575 million of taxpayer money that has been given to and misallocated to to illegal people.” migrants. We need solutions, and we need change.”

“Our values will remain strong and steadfast. We will likely encounter obstacles in our work over the next four years, but we will not be held back, and we will not turn back,” Johnson said.

Meanwhile, Homan spoke in Chicago last week, telling local Republicans that he wanted Illinois Democrats to “come to the table” but to “get the hell out of the way.”

That comment prompted a fiery response from Rep. Delia Ramirez, D-Ill.

“Tom Homan, the next time you come to #IL03 – a district made stronger and more powerful by immigrants – you better be ready to face the resistance,” she warned.

Ramirez’s comments add to a growing number of statements from Democratic leaders across the country vowing to oppose or refuse to cooperate with Trump’s mass deportation plans.

But while Homan may face opposition from Illinois Democrats, it is there one Democratic leader who wants to work with him: Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.
