The home, which was built in 1997, has 6 beds and 9 baths within 9,400 square feet. When the Murphys bought the home, they weren’t the first celebrities to live within its walls.
The couple purchased the home from Spears, a pop star and music icon, in 2003. for $3.85 million.
During her time living in the home, the “Toxic” singer claims to have had supernatural experiences there.
In the 2021 episode on the We Need to Talk About Britney podcast, her former make-up artist Julianne Kaye described her experience with the singer.
“(Spears) had this place on Sunset Plaza — and I’m just going to say, it’s really weird … She called me … I had my friend do Reiki on her,” Kay said at the time. “He had come; I guess she had a crazy party weekend and needed to relax. He leaves and she swears to God he opened some spirit portal or something and these evil spirits came in… and tried to push her down the stairs or something crazy.”
Kay said after the experience that Spears never returned to the home, but instead stayed at the Casa Del Mar Hotel.
“She says, ‘I know you’re going to think I’m crazy. i’m not crazy I know what I saw. I know what I felt,” Kay added.
Murphy is also reported to be uneasy about the property. In a 2010 interview with The Hollywood ReporterMonjak detailed the actress’ discomfort at home.
“She absolutely hated the Rising Glen house,” Monjack said outside the outlet. “Every time we’d ride Sunset, Britt would say, ‘Can we please stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel?’ I’d say, ‘Honey, you’ve got to be realistic. We have our house, a 10,000 square foot home. We will stay in it.
