Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively both are Hollywood stars, but they are determined to provide a normal life for their children.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter posted on Friday, December 13, Deadpool the actor talked about his family.

Reynolds and Lively have four children together: daughters James, 9, Inez, 8, and Betty, 5, as well as son Olin, who they welcomed in early 2023.

“We try to give them as normal a life as possible,” Reynolds told the publication.

“I try not to impose on them the difference in their childhood versus my childhood or my wife’s,” the actor continued, reflecting on both his and Blake’s respective upbringings and how his perspective on raising children has changed.

“We both grew up working class and I remember when they were very young I would say or think, ‘Oh my God, I would never have had a gift like that when I was a kid’ or ‘I would never have had the luxury of getting takeout or whatever,” Reynolds shared.

“That’s when I realized it wasn’t their bag of rocks to carry,” he said, adding that his children have begun to show their own values. “They’re already in touch with gratitude and understanding the world enough to have a strong sense of empathy.”

Reynolds explained how his kids make him and Lively feel confident in their parenting style.

“Those are the things I would think (I would point out) that we’re doing a good job of — if our kids can empathize with other people and other kids,” he said, but acknowledged that no matter what, his kids will grow up with a different childhood than the one he had.
